Common Positions (for both home/away games)

 

Parent Captain: Main point of contact for teachers and band members needing parent support. Coordinates all parent volunteers, assigns duties as needed and ensures that the band is receiving the support needed. Travels with the band for the duration of the game/event. 

 

Announcer: Voice of the Chardon High School Marching Band. Needed during halftime shows for both away and home games. Makes all announcements and introductions for the Marching Band. May travel with the band however may travel on their own. Service needed through the end of the halftime show. Prefer to have the same person for all (majority) of games in the season. May be a parent support person or chaperone. 

 

Video/Photo: Responsible for capturing candid photos of the band via their smartphone and setting up/operating video during halftime. Also responsible for starting/managing the Facebook Live stream for the halftime show. Photos uploaded after the event via Google Photos. Parent will need a smartphone with a camera. Other equipment and training will be provided. Does not need to travel with the team however should be there ahead of the game through the end of the halftime show. 

 

Equipment Support: Responsible for making sure equipment is loaded and unloaded from the trailer as well as staging equipment as needed during the game and halftime show. May use other parent volunteers as support as needed. Travels with the team and service is needed for the entire game including post-game teardown and unload. 

 

Home Game Positions:

 

Snack Captain: Responsible for ensuring the band has water setup for the entirety of the game, including after pre-game. With help from other parent volunteers, sets up 3rd quarter tables and sets out water and snacks for both bands. Supervises the 3rd quarter area with support from other parent volunteers. Service needed pre-game through the end of the game. 

 

Parent Support: General parent volunteer who accompanies the band onto the field and provides support to all areas. Support may include: staffing snack tables, watching band seats/bags during performance, providing support to Equipment Captain, and other duties as assigned. Service needed pregame through end of game. 

 

One parent support volunteer will be tasked with support for uniforms and have training completed by the Band Uniform Manager. 

Away Game Positions:

 

Chaperone: Travels with the band on the bus and provides a range of services including general supervision of band members on the bus and during the game. Support may include:  watching band seats/bags during performance, providing support to Equipment Captain, and other duties as assigned. Service needed pregame through end of game. 

 

One chaperone will be tasked with support for uniforms and have training completed by the Band Uniform Manager.
