Chardon Music Department Senior Awards & Scholarships

The Chardon Crecshendo Club is pleased to announce our Senior Award and Scholarship winners for the 2019/2020 school year.


The Crescendo Club Music Boosters present two scholarships per year in the amount of $600 each, one to an outstanding band member and one to an outstanding choir member. This year, the recipients of the Crescendo Club scholarships are Mitchell Ewaska for band and Maya Pederson for choir.


The John Philip Sousa Award is presented to the band senior with the most band points over the past four years and it comes with a $600 award. This year’s John Philip Sousa Award was earned by Brigit Morgan.


The National School Choral Award is presented to the band senior with the choir band points over the past four years and it comes with a $600 award. This year’s National School Choral Award was earned by Samantha Hess.


Semper Fidelis Award is presented by the Marine Corps League in recognition of diligence, dedication and musical excellence as a performing high school bandsman and soloist. The Semper Fidelis Award this year goes to Emma Beil.


The National Marching Band Award is given to a senior who consistently shows outstanding leadership, skill, and attitude during the marching season. The National Marching Band Award is presented this year to Gwen Avery.


The Quincy Jones Award honors outstanding students for their musicianship and creativity. The Quincy Jones Award this year goes to Brigit Morgan.


The Louis Armstrong Award is given to a senior who displays excellence in the field of jazz music. This year’s recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award goes to Ken Leach for his outstanding performance on drum set.


The Frederic Chopin Award is presented to students who excel on the piano and use their piano skills to enhance the school music experience. This year’s Frederic Chopin Piano Award goes to Robert Frank.


The Leonard Bernstein Award honors students whose musical contributions and dedication set them apart as deserving of the highest recognition for their achievements. This year, the Leonard Bernstein Award is presented to Mitchell Ewaska.
